Pass interference
TheBigLead.com is learning that University of Texas’ Minister of Culture Matthew McConaughey has expressed his condemnation of Longhorns fans’ behavior during the team’s game against Georgia. Fans lost their cool in the final moments of the third quarter following a highly controversial pass interference penalty.

In this slideshow, we explore major takeaways about the fans’ behavior as well as McConaughey’s response about it being “not cool.”

The penalty led to widespread outrage among fans, culminating in hundreds of water bottles being thrown onto the field. Texas defensive back Jahdae Barron had intercepted a pass, but officials ruled he committed pass interference.
After discussing the play, however, officials changed the call, deciding that Barron had not committed pass interference.
The Southeastern Conference (SEC) stated, “While the original evaluation and assessment of the penalty was not properly executed, it is unacceptable to have debris thrown on the field at any time.” Texas was subsequently fined $250,000 for the incident.
Hosted Georgia
McConaughey said, “First off, you were electric Saturday night when we hosted Georgia. Bravo. Let’s continue to bring it… Even though our Horns didn’t get the W, you created a measurable home-field advantage.”
Not cool
He also addressed the bottle-throwing, saying, “Not cool. Bogey move… Longhorn Nation knows how to show up, show out like no other, and still keep our class.”
Going forward
So, going forward, let’s clean that kind of BS up and leave that behind us for good. We have to shake hands on that,” McConaughey added.
Fan conduct
The incident has sparked ongoing debate regarding officiating standards and fan conduct.
